The E Amara 20 Notes is the most complete instrument in the Enixpan collection. This is our exclusive flagship — a handpan of extraordinary scope, combining 13 upper notes and 7 lower bass notes in a dual-face configuration that places nearly three full octaves at the player's fingertips.
The E Minor Complete (Amara) scale is one of the most versatile and emotionally resonant in the handpan world. Its complete minor scale structure — enriched with passing tones and upper extensions — allows for fully chromatic melodic lines, true harmonic progressions, and orchestral-level compositions. This instrument is suited for concert performance, studio recording, music therapy, and stage production.
The word "Amara" comes from the Ge'ez language of Ethiopia, where it means "grace" or "pleasant". This name is a fitting tribute to the instrument's capacity for effortless, flowing musical expression.
A Monument of Handpan Engineering
Building a stable, harmonically pure 20-note instrument is one of the greatest challenges in handpan craft. Each note must be tuned to three resonance frequencies (fundamental, octave, and compound fifth) and must hold that tuning even as the steel settles over time. The E Amara 20 Notes represents thousands of hours of research, prototyping, and refinement.
Crafted from Ember Steel and individually nitrided, each instrument undergoes a rigorous acoustic certification process. Only instruments that meet our exacting tolerance standards — less than 1 cent deviation per note — leave our workshop.
This is not simply an instrument. It is a lifetime companion for the serious musician.

About the E Amara Scale
The Amara scale is a complete E natural minor scale enriched with additional tones that extend its expressive range beyond standard minor pentatonic instruments. The full diatonic minor — E, F#, G, A, B, C, D — allows for genuine harmonic progressions: you can build chords, create tension-and-release arcs, and write melodic lines of real complexity.
The lower face extends the instrument deep into the bass register, with C3 providing a rich, resonant foundation. The combined range from C3 to A5 covers more than two and a half octaves, enabling the E Amara 20 Notes to serve as a complete musical voice — bass, harmony, and melody in a single instrument.
This makes the E Amara uniquely suited for solo concert performance, where the player must carry an entire musical landscape alone.
Who is the E Amara 20 Notes designed for?
This instrument is designed for advanced and professional musicians who have mastered the handpan and are ready for the highest level of musical expression. It is particularly suited for solo concert performance, orchestral composition, professional recording, and advanced sound therapy work. It requires significant experience to use to its full potential.
What makes the Amara scale special compared to other handpan scales?
Most handpan scales are pentatonic (5 notes per octave), which limits harmonic complexity. The Amara scale is a complete diatonic minor scale (7 notes per octave), which means you can create true harmonic progressions, chord voicings, and complex melodic lines impossible on pentatonic instruments. Combined with the extended note range of the 20-note dual-face configuration, this makes the E Amara the most musically complete handpan we produce.
How does the dual-face system work on the E Amara?
The upper dome features 13 tonal notes arranged around the central Ding (E3), giving you the full melodic range of the Amara scale from E3 to A5. The lower face features 7 bass note plates (C3 to C5) that provide deep harmonic foundation. Advanced players learn to alternate between both faces fluidly, creating rich textures that combine bass drone, harmonic mid-register, and shimmering high melodies simultaneously.
What is the difference between 440 Hz and 432 Hz tuning?
440 Hz is the international standard used in classical music, jazz, and most ensemble contexts. It is the correct choice for playing with other musicians or recording in a professional studio.
432 Hz is preferred by many sound therapists and meditation practitioners for its reportedly warmer, more resonant character. Both options are available at no extra cost — simply select your preference when ordering.
What is included with the E Amara 20 Notes?
Every E Amara 20 Notes includes: the handpan itself (individually certified to <1 cent accuracy), a premium protective bag, a microfibre cleaning cloth, a desiccant pouch for humidity control, a certificate of authenticity, and full access to the Enixpan Learning Platform including advanced video courses and priority community support.
